Istanbul Airport Transportation
From the Istanbul Airport to the City Center one can travel using different means. This is the airport that appeared in James Bond’s From Russia with Love while it was still known as Yesilkoy Airport.A light rail service exists between Istanbul Airport and Aksaray. This line runs through some main areas of the part of the city on the European Thrace, together with the terminal for the intercity bus. The light rail service takes one to Aksaray in about 35 minutes with the one-way cost being Euros 0.75.
The Airport’s Shuttle service is also a good choice. It’s operated by the Havas, one of the main backbones of Turkey’s ground handling enterprises. All these buses run after every half hour to such areas as Taksim Square, Kozyatagi, Aksaray, Yenikapi and Bakirkoy, and after every two hours to Etiler Akmerkez.
On the other hand, the Airport also has fast ferry services that run in the Bakirkoy terminal, connecting to Kadikoy and Bostanci. The Havas buses also offer services between the Istanbul Airport and the terminal offering fast ferry services as per the ferries arrivals and departures. You can also take the Municipality bus that runs to Kozyatagi, Etiler and Taksim. While being a slower alternative, it is cheaper and thus affordable. A car ride can also take one to the City Center, via D-100’s International road, the coastal road and the Trans-European Motorway.
Since Istanbul’s traffic is much heavier today, it is advisable to travel to the city center using public transport such as Tram, Sea, Tunnel, Metro and Bus. Public transport in the capital is much more reasonable, comfortable and frequent and a trip of 15 kilometers should not cost one more than what a taxi’s minute does. In case you need a 100 percent pleasantness, comfort, assurance and safe private way of traveling to the city center, consider a Mercedes Benz minivan which is only 40 percent more than the cost of a taxi ride.
